I built and sold a 10 unit prototype batch of portal and also had 20+ preorders. Customers got a free portal and paid a membership fee for a random piece of art every week. If they bought the art it would be burned on their portal forever, and if they didn't, they'd never see it again. The prototype batch was made with Raspberry Pi, a monitor, and packaged with a custom acrylic case. Software was built with SvelteKit, Tauri, and PostgreSQL.

Improvement

I could go on forever about how janky the prototype batch was. But 2 critical issues were Raspberry Pi blacking out and connections coming loose.
